I draw to see better, to see deeper, to see the details that surround me all the time. Drawing is a way to see the richness in our world.

Rueben
Rueben, the little guy, has been the center of Vanessa's life, or almost...next to Olive. To see her play with Rueben is the treat of day.

Toronto Doors Open: Trinity College
Went to the great annual event Toronto Doors Open when lots of the buildings with historical, political, and cultural significance in Toronto open their doors for the public for free. I visited the University of Toronto campus and checked a gallery on the campus. Someone was playing Beethoven in the gallery. It was so beautiful I wanted to cry...

Ruben's First Day at Home
Ruben is a 6 week male Schnauzer. After 2 days of intensive research, Pam and Vanessa finally settled down on the name Ruben for him. Ruben arrived to his new home on Sunday and I got a chance to hold him. He's so cute!

Corvin Castle (under Reconstruction)
Corvin Castle, according to my brother, is the most magnificent castle he's visited in Romania. The photos he took look amazing. Just a bit disappointment that it's being under reconstruction right now.

A Building in Sighisoara
Sighisoara is one of my brother's favorite places in Romania, beautiful and serene. Looking at the photos makes me want to go there.
A Guard at Alba Iulia Fortress
The guards at the Alba Iulia Fortress dress up like the old time. My brother couldn't make it to Alba Iulia this time, but my co-worker Ovidiu offered me the photos when he traveled there.

Peles Castle
One of my favorite so far from my brother's photos from the trip. The castle was built between late 1800s and early 1900s. It was a rare modernity at that time with electricity, central heating and vacuuming.

Bran Castle
Brother has been traveling in Romania. I'm so jealous that he got to see all the castles including the Bran Castle!

No Time for Books
Work has been so demanding I feel so drained. There is no energy left for me to read anything before bed. Look forward to the end of May when I can possibility have a break!

Turn Left Turn Right 2
Turn Left, Turn Right is a poignant love story: a girl and a guy living in the same big apartment building. One always turns left and the other always turns right, therefore they can never meet until one winter day at a fountain in a park...

Sunny
Went to see the World of Taiyo Matsumoto exhibit at Japan Foundation on Sat. Admire his works tremendously. His new comic book Sunny was also available at the exhibit. Have been purchasing illustration books like crazy lately and I couldn't splurge more. But the drawings in Sunny are amazing!

Shopping on Kingston Road
Went shopping a week ago on Kingston Road. It was a sunny day, a perfect day for some thrift stores and ice cream hunting.
Turn Left Turn Right
Borrowed the book Turn Left Turn Right from Lichia. The drawings in the book are elegantly cute and mesmerizingly poignant. What a precious book!

Farewell Card
Made a farewell card for my co-worker who's leaving on Friday. This was inspired by one of the posters from the post book my friend Jackie gave me. I feel more comfortable now just to draw directly on the card.

First Motorcycle Ride
Had my first motorcycle ride last night. I was only the rider in the back but still it was a lot of fun, esp. on the high way! I probably squeezed my co-worker in front of me in a very uncomfortable way though.

Building Sketches
More sketches of buildings for this weekend. The top one is an apartment building in London. I took a photo of it when I was walking by. The shape and colours of the building caught my eyes. The bottom sketch is a building from New York.

Life Drawing 9
The quick poses from last night. Didn't do well with the long pose. I wanted to try the water soluble graphite for the long pose and it didn't turn out as I expected. Both the paper and the brush should be blamed!

Trip to Germany
A lot of things point me to Germany. I studied German for 3 years at college; I'm working at a furniture company whose owner is a German immigrant to Canada 50 years ago; two of my favorite art movements: Expressionism and Bauhaus are German and my favorite industrial designer, Konstantin Grcic, is German. After talking about going to Germany - specifically Berlin, and spending a week in there - about half a year finally I sat down and for the first time in a long time started studying the map of Germany. A very good start and now I know where Berlin is on the map! I think I'm going to sketch at least one thing related to Germany per week from now on until my trip.

New Converse Shoes!
I treated myself with a pair of Converse Marimekko shoes yesterday after the painful teeth cleaning! They're so bright and lovely!
