Prepping for Class Assignment 2

Assignment is a 4 panel illustration depicting a story. My story is about a little girl with pixie hair and a dog. Have been working on the character design. The pixie hair was actually inspired by yesterday's sketch of Shane.

Shane

Shane is a very interesting character in the "L Word." Out of all the qualities that draw me towards her are her fashion sense and the pixie hair.

Class Homework 1

Finished my first class assignment, which is to create an editorial illustration for the headline: How Depressed People Use the Internet. My concept is to see the internet as a comfort or escape for the depressed.

Converse Extension

Saw this cool design for Converse on internet. Would like to try myself!

Edward

Edward is one of my co-workers. A typical Hong Kong guy with his fair well-toned skin that makes all girls jealous!

Bus

Bus is a big part of my commute to work every day. I try to use the bus time to check emails, listen to podcasts, and read books or magazines. Sometimes I just dose off like this morning even when the music I'm listening to is loud EDM :)

Olive

Olive is my landlady's younger dog. She's one year old Schnauzer and full of energy. She's so cute sometimes you just want to cuddle her forever.

Lima Street

Lima Street again! Simply ballpen sketches today, no colour pencils. This is a pedestrian only street/shopping strip in downtown, a few blocks away from the Mayor's Plaza.

Study Part I for Illustration Homework

The first homework from the illustration class is to pick an editorial headline from the list provided by the teacher, brainstorm on ideas and concepts, create thumbnails, then focus on 2 of them and finally create a final piece based on one. The headline I picked is something about depression. I've decided on the 2 thumbnails worth developing and I'm going to do a lot face and body studies in the process before I can make the final illustration.

Illustration Class

First day of Illustration Essentials at OCAD. Quite a mix of artists, painters and designers. I'm quite challenged...to say the least! There were warmup exercises, brainstorm sessions, and lot of thumbnails. Also was exposed to so many great illustrators. Tried markers tonight and got my hands covered with marker ink. FUN!
