Living Room (unfinished)

It's New Year's Eve and I was trying to finish the sketch of the living room. Looks like I won't be able to finish this one by tonight but I did have fun doing the sketch with pencil and ink. The chair from yesterday was cropped in this sketch too :)

Vanessa's Chair

Vanessa has a chair from her mom. It looks like a chair from Van Gogh's paintings and I like it for it's vintage looking. Having it in the middle of the living room against relatively modern furniture in the background makes it so cute.

My Books

Was doing some pre-new year cleaning this morning and went through my previous sketchbooks and my other favorite book collections. How precious they are!

ParaNorman

ParaNorman is such a cute stop motion animation. When I took a closer look at the character design I noticed many more cute details including Norman's 2 non-aligned nostrils.

Little Ellen

This little girl Ellen was a sunshine at last night's annual Christmas party at Auntie Mu's.

A Bicycle Poster

Love the flat colors and simplified lines in this 1907 poster from Amsterdam.

Loki

Had a crash on Tom Hiddleston. He's so adorable as Loki.

Toulouse-Lautrec

Another great book I got this year is "The Poster: 1,000 posters from Toulouse-Lautrec to Sagmeister" from my friend Jackie. Toulouse-Lautrec is one of my favorite graphic artists. And this is one of his most well-known poster for a cabaret act. Great graphic design piece.

Great Music

Ouch this doesn't look like myself! I'll try to do a better job next time. But I'm enjoying some great EDM lately. The Universal Religion chapter 5 from my friend Dan is awesome!

An Interesting Ad

Saw an interesting ad for NFB in the magazine Applied Arts. The copy says: It's good to be good at something. Ad features a guy with piercings and tattoos all over him. I just think visually it's a very strong message.

Girl Talk with Jin Hong

Was planning to see Life of Pi with my friend Jin Hong. But the tickets were sold out. This is already the 4th week for the movie. Who would think! So after some noodles at the mall, I suggested having some desert at Baton Rouge. Cake and girl talks!

I'm Making New Year's Card.

I'm making the new year cards by myself this year. The concept is computer illustration with paper collage as some extra texture.

Orlando Again

I'm still in the Orlando mood. Here is Orlando falling in love with poetry.

A Great Book from Lynn

I was planning to make another drawing of Orlando but I changed my mind after I got a surprising gift from Lynn tonight: Art Deco, a book on the graphic art and illustrations from the art deco period. I've always loved the illustrations from Art Deco. This is such a thoughtful gift!

Orlando!

I'm so excited to see the movie Orlando again tomorrow. It's one of my favorite movies and the screening will be at my friend Lynn's place. Here is my sketch of Orlando and his love interest Sasha, a princess from Russia.

Sketch Marathon Has Just Started!

I've finally put myself into action. Yes I've decided to do one sketch a day! I'm starting with the lovely and amazing book of National Geographic Greatest Portraits: In Focus. Today's sketch is the favorite wife of an African chief.
