Patti Smith

Not quite familiar with her music but love her punk image.

Life Drawing 4

Made it to the life drawing session at OCAD. I missed the session last week and felt really raw at the beginning of last night's session. But gradually I came back to myself and my pencil and ink pen started to listen to me.

Fountain

Some negative and positive space exercise for this morning. I'm looking forward to tonight's life drawing session. Missed last week because of a freelance project.

Missed Connection 3

Missed Connection again! This man-to-woman note is soooo sweet:
When I put your coat collar up to protect you from the cold…on the corner of E Houston and Bowery…and I looked in your eyes…I was very tempted to kiss you…but I don’t steal women from other men…still…I was tempted…

High Fashion Inspired by Biker Jacket

Came across a Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe who designed a collection of biker jacket inspired high fashion for the 2013 Paris Fashion Week. I like it very much and want to make a color rendering of this sketch.

Girl

Spring seems around the corner in Toronto now...finally. I was determined to make something beautiful and dreamy today.

Nick Cave

I don't even know who he is. But I saw his photo on the cover of the urban weekly NOW magazine and I can't help doing a sketch of it. He has such a strong and interesting face!

The Hunger Games

Finally I finished the 3 audiobooks of The Hunger Games. First time to finish a fiction in years! So I did a sketch based on a photo and made a simple illustration with my own twists based on the sketch.

Missed Connection 2

I really love this cute piece in Missed Connection. It's based on a note a guy wrote to a girl. He met her on the train, him reading a book and her reading newspaper. All of sudden, she fared a flatulence and she just chuckled it away. The guy apparently didn't mind this and wanted to see her again! You really have to laugh at this. So funny and cute!

Teddy Girls

Was reading an article about Teddy Girls, the female gang culture in the 50's. Was amazed by their fashion sense and strong imagery.

Boy with Book

Finished a few pages of Missed Connection over the weekend and liked a boy image very much. So I added a little earring to his ear and changed his shirt to a graphic-T. The book he's holding has a title now, Paris vs. New York, which is another illustration book I've been enjoying.

Potomac River Illustration

Was working on an illustration piece for my friend Guy. He took some beautiful photos over the Potomac River in DC and he asked me to turn the photos into some illustrations. Finished the kayaks today and the rest is a challenge for me: the water. I'll have to think of a way to present the water in a realistic manner but also with a bit majestic feel.

Revisiting Orange

Did another sketch of Orange this morning along with some others. His face still is the most interesting.

Life Drawing 3

Last night's model was a chatterbox. She talked all the time during the breaks. And she ate whenever she got a chance. She might be a bit overweight, but I found this classic and renaissance beauty in her curves and her hair. It was a wonderful night sketching her!

Lorraine

Did a quick sketch of our receptionist. I'm looking forward to tonight's life drawing session at OCAD. Who'll be tonight's model?

Faces

Going back to faces with just black and white. The ink pen I recently bought is giving me nice strokes.

Self Portrait

Lynn took some great photos of me in the Kensington Market yesterday. I felt the urge to do something with the photos. So here I am!

Spring Is Around

Spring is around the corner when you see this in the window display of a show store! Was hanging out in Queen West yesterday and enjoyed the first taste of Spring, after such a long bitter winter!

Missed Connection

Ordered Missed Connection online the other day and was so excited to finally get my hand on it yesterday. Already knew what I was expecting but was still very delighted to see the actual illustrations in the book. I'm so amazed by all the details Sophie Blackall put in her illustrations. How could she come up with all the clever ideas?

LIfe Drawing 2

The model from last night was great. His poses were very energetic and therefore, very challenging, esp. at the beginning. I had to examine him for some extra time to know where I should start with my pencils.

Front Woman from Delain

Sketched the front woman from the gothic-electro band Delain.

Figure Study

I'm very excited about my figure class which will start next month. Since it's an advanced class, I'd better practice every day now so by the time the class starts, I'll be advanced enough to be qualified!

Houses

Saw an image of houses somewhere in Northern Europe on Facebook. I loved it and therefore, it walked into my sketchbook.

The Happy Show

When to see The Happy Show with Lichia yesterday at Design Exchange. It's an exhibit by the rockstar graphic designer Stefan Segmeister. At the entrance of the exhibit was the big question: How happy are you now? I think I'm happy! The exhibit was a lot of fun. The messages are short but deep.

Life Drawing Session

Went to a life drawing session at OCAD. It was even better than I had expected. The professional model changed her poses every 2 or 5 minutes during the first warmup hour then every 15 or 20 minutes for the next 2 hours. I got to sketch very quick. Saw some amazing life drawings from people around me. Really inspiring!
